We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students. Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.
The Avon Community School Corporation Food Department is pleased to announce that in an effort to continually improve the quality of lunches we serve our students, all standards set by the USDA and the Indiana Department of Education. In 2013 our department went through a validation review and was deemed compliant in all areas.
With the recent changes in the National School Lunch Program the availability and variety in fruits, vegetables and whole grains has greatly increased. An emphasis is now being placed on fresh fruit and vegetable varieties, when available. In addition, nutrition standards are being met in the areas of calories, saturated fat, trans fat and sodium.All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified child nutrition professionals.
