Miss Kimmell

Background: This will be my third year as a Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Avon Intermediate West. I am an Avon High School graduate, and I am honored to teach in my community. I attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in History and B.S. in Social Studies Education. I have graduate certification in Applied Educational Neuroscience from Butler University, and I am completing my M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership at Indiana University.

Interests: My hobbies include traveling, exploring parks, playing video games, watching Marvel movies, and listening to music.

About my classroom: It is very important to me that all my students will have consistent opportunities to bring in their interests and cultural experiences within each learning unit. To achieve this, students will largely engage in group work activities where they will create and construct meaningful, creative, and fun projects. My students will be able to set their own classroom values at the beginning of the school year, and these values will continually be followed. We will learn in a classroom community that is focused on mindfulness, respect, and friendship, so bring your smiles and positive attitudes!  This will be a great year!

For parents or guardians: I value getting to know my students’ parents or guardians. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or feedback. You can contact me via phone call during my prep period as well as after school hours (with prior notice). I check my email from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm as well. I will be an advocate for your child, so please know you are supported and valued!

Let’s do our best at AIS West! ♥
