ISTEP+ for ParentsAvon Community School Corporation takes pride in its effort to communicate to stakeholders new academic standards and how they are assessed. Our teachers strive to stretch all students to develop into well-rounded learners and citizens. As we work to develop the whole child, high student achievement is one facet of the journey.Part 1 and Part 2 Testing MinutesThe Indiana Department of Education grants schools the flexibility to determine local testing schedules during the 2-3 week Test Window. Our schools may choose to give one session per day. The number of minutes per session is set to make sure students do not feel rushed. If all students in the class finish before the end of the test session, the teacher may call “time” and end the test session early. Please see the Department of Education Website for ISTEP assessment information and test windows.I-READPurpose
The purpose of the Indiana Reading Evaluation And Determination (IREAD-3) assessment is to measure foundational reading standards through grade three. Based on the Indiana Academic Standards, IREAD-3 is a summative assessment that was developed in accordance with House Enrolled Act 1367 (also known as Public Law 109 in 2010), which "requires the evaluation of reading skills for students who are in grade three beginning in the Spring of 2012 to ensure that all students can read proficiently before moving on to grade four."
The purpose of the test blueprint, designed with the help of Indiana classroom teachers, is to make transparent to educators the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of students on the assessment. Parents may also see the prioritized knowledge, skill and abiliites measured when your child takes the IREAD assessment.
The Item Sampler provides information about IREAD-3 for students, parents, educators, and others. The items in this sampler are examples of the types of items that may appear on IREAD-3. These examples can serve as models when teachers are constructing items for classroom assessment. It should be noted that the sampler is not a practice test.ISTEP+ Grades 3-8
The purpose of the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress Plus (ISTEP+) program is to measure student achievement in the subject areas of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science (Grades 4 and 6), and Social Studies (Grades 5 and 7). In particular, ISTEP+ reports student achievement levels according to the Indiana Academic Standards that were adopted by the Indiana State Board of Education. An Applied Skills Assessment and a Multiple-Choice Assessment, which are required components of the ISTEP+ program, are used to measure these standards.Blueprints
