Mrs. Winningham

Librarian/ Teacher

I was born in England and moved to this country when I was four years old. I grew up in the Washington DC area and moved to Indiana to attend Earlham College. I have been married for over 30 years and have two grown children and 2 grandsons. I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking, sewing and swimming. I decided to become a librarian when my children began school.

I began working for Avon in 1999 at the Intermediate School and moved to Avon Middle School South in 2012. I choose to teach because having a teacher who has "been there and done that" helps me relate to the students. I grew up with dyslexia and had to over come many educational hurdles. I now use those experiences to help my students achieve their reading and educational goals. Students today  have the world at their fingertips and helping them maneuver through all the reading, resource, fake news, and information is essential in their educational journey.
