• E-Learning Activities for Wednesday, April 15th

Theme:  Bugs  *All activities for today will be found on this page only*

    Gross Motor:

Grab some chalk and head outside!  Draw a chalk spider web by writing a large X. Next draw another X perpendicular to the first one. You will end up with what looks like an eight lined snowflake. Beginning in the middle, connect the lines with arches increasing in size to create the finished web.

Use the web as a balance beam as they walk the lines.

    – Throw a pretend spider into a space on the web to play spider hopscotch. Pretend the children are insects as you ask them to navigate from one side of the web to the other without stepping on the sticky web lines or the space of the web with the spider in it!

    - Write numbers, letters, or shapes inside each space of the web. Invite children to identify the information for you as they step on each space. You can also toss the pretend spider into the web and ask the child to name the letter, number, shape that it landed on.

Fine Motor:  Find a basket or container around the house that has holes that you can string yarn through to make a web.  Drop some pretend bugs (or something to resemble bugs) to the bottom of the basket/container.  Have your child use tweezers or tongs from the kitchen to save the bugs from the spider!

Sensory/Social Emotional:   Go on a sound walk outside to look for bugs and other items!  See if your child will hold any of the bugs or insects in their hand or touch any of them as you find them.  Be sure to tell your child what you are looking for either from this checklist or make a checklist of your own.

Language: .  Listen to the story read aloud.  Stop the story every now and again and ask your child to either point to objects as you say them (example:  Where is the grasshopper?) or you can point to something and ask your child to tell you what it is or what is happening on that page (What is _____?  or What is she doing?)
