• U.S. History at the eight grade level begins with early Native Americans and ends with Reconstruction after the Civil War.  My curriculum is guided by the Indiana State Standards.  I use multiple teaching techniques to try and enhance my lessons.  My ultimate goal is for students to be as enthused about history as I am.  As students will tell you I'm a big supporter of George Washington.  Here is an image of him praying for his troops while camped at Valley Forge.

Help topics:

  • How to complete current events??

    Posted by:

    1. Every Friday students will complete two current events. One should be from the state of Indiana and the second can be anywhere of the students choice.

    2. Students are two read and article either online or in the newspaper. They will then HANDWRITE a paragraph summary answering who, what, when, where, and why.  They don't actually have to write these five things on their summaries. Handwritten summaries help limit copy and pasting.

    3. Students that get article online need to provide the full link with their paragraph. Full links can be typed if they choose because they can be long. Any student that uses the newspaper will just need to cut a piece of the article out for evidence.

    4. These are worth 20 points and can be turned in at anytime as long as I have them by Friday.
