Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I am so honored to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. We will be very busy as we explore all of the components of second grade. You might want to start a folder at home in which you would like to place the second grade newsletters, handouts, and other important information.

I welcome your help in my classroom and want us to become partners in your child’s education. If you wish to discuss academic or behavioral concerns please contact me to set up an appointment via email or telephone. Please be aware that during school hours our phone is placed on do not disturb to insure the educational experience is not interrupted. Please feel free to leave me a voice mail. Generally, I can only check my messages before 8:50 and after 3:45. If you need to report a dismissal change or other urgent requests, please talk to one of the school secretaries, and they will reach me.

This is my eleventh year of teaching, so I am very excited about the many experiences that will come, as did in my first year here at Hickory. I feel very privileged to work in Avon, especially at Hickory Elementary. I did my undergraduate work at Franklin College where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.

Your child’s education is very important and I hope that I make a difference in your child’s life. I will make sure your child feels at home in my classroom. I know that every child has a different learning style, interests, history, and hopes and I will do my very best to meet as many needs as possible.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life. I know this will be a great year for all students at Hickory Elementary.
