About Our Media Center
~For all grades, we do have a fixed library schedule. This means that students have a specific day that their class will attend library to do a lesson with Mrs. Russell and check out a new library book. Please refer to your child's classroom schedule because this schedule may change due to holidays or missed school days.~Students are expected to return their books on their library day, unless they need to renew them or keep them for another week. If a student does not return their book, they may not check out another one. Students are welcome to come to the library to return books, even if it is not their scheduled library check out day.~The mission of the River Birch Media Center is to assist students and staff in meeting their curricular and personal information needs. We teach our students strategies to become independent reading consumers. The media center staff provides access to materials in a variety of formats and works with educators to incorporate different technologies into their classrooms.Parent Volunteers in the Media CenterWe would love to have parent volunteers help us in the library! We are looking for people who are willing to help us on a weekly basis check in, check out, reshelve and process new books. Due to scheduling, the times we need the most help are mornings Monday-Friday.~Want to help occasionally? We can always use help for our two annual Book Fairs (one in September and one in February).~Are you interested in helping? Please call Mrs. Russell at 544-6800 or send her an e-mail at email@example.com.~Thanks for your support of our Media program!Student HelpersSince the Media Center is such a busy place, we rely on many student helpers to make things run smoothly.Book Cart HelpersWe have 4th graders who take return carts to each classroom that will be visiting the Media Center for the day.
