• hands Welcome to Mrs. Winger's Counselor's Corner!hands

I hope to keep parents and students informed about what is going on in the Counseling Department throughout the year.  Please check my page often for updates and resources that can assist you with your student.
The focus of the counseling program at Avon Intermediate School East (AISE) is to provide  pro-active, comprehensive services that meet the needs of all children.

    Services available include:
    • Individual Counseling:  One on one counseling services are available to children for a variety of issues. These services can be provided on a regular (4-6 sessions) or as needed basis. Referrals can come from parents, teachers, staff, or the student. Counselor/ Student confidentiality is honored at all times except in  cases of possible harm to self or others and reports of abuse. Students are encouraged to discuss their feelings and concerns with their parents.
    • Group Counseling:  Group Counseling encourages children to help each other, share ideas, respect others, and develop positive skills that will last them a lifetime. (Divorce Support, Skills for Success, Stress Management, and other groups, as needed, are offered at AISE.) (6-8 sessions)
    • Classroom Guidance:  Helping kids learn the skills they need for life!
  • Maternity  Leave

I want to let all of the AISE family know that I will be going on maternity leave starting mid to late February, and I will be taking the rest of the school year off.  Mrs. Jenny Pfledderer has been hired to fill in for me while I am gone.  Many know Mrs. Pfledderer here at East because she was our School Based Therapist through Cummins Behavioral Health.  She will be visiting East before I leave to introduce herself to the students.  East students and families will be in great hands while I am away!

    Grad cap
Now is a perfect time to start looking at the 6th grade Graduation Plan.  All 6th graders are required by the State to complete a Graduation Plan with their parents.  You can access that information by clicking on the following link:

Graduation plans can be completed online through Indiana Career Explorer, but please also turn in a paper copy.  Be sure that your student completes his/her plan and returns it to the Guidance office.
