Middle Schools (Grades 6-8)

In addition to core subjects, our middle school curriculum includes Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, Computers, Choir, and Band. We continue to emphasize the basics while giving the students a wider scope of experiences.

Middle school is designed to be a transition from the mostly self-contained classroom atmosphere of our elementary and intermediate schools to the departmentalization of the high school. The middle school uses a teaming approach to deliver core curriculum, allowing for a more flexible schedule and helping students feel a sense of belonging to a smaller unit in a large school.
Middle School features include:
- Advisor/advisee program
- Creating Positive Relationships (CPR)
- Study skills across the curriculum (i.e., students learn how to study)
- Higher Ability program
- Excellent facilities
- Respected Music and Athletics programs
- Additional extracurricular activities
- Partners in Education Program (PEP)
- Special Education programs
- Talented and dedicated educators and staff
- Technology
- Accelerated reader program
- Four-Star status in recent years
- Counseling and wellness

Indiana Academic Standards
Avon Community School Corporation (ACSC) utilizes the Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE) Academic Standards as the foundation for curriculum, instruction, and assessment across all grade levels and content areas. These standards provide a consistent framework to ensure students engage in rigorous, high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for future success. You can access IDOE’s academic standards on their website.
Beginning with the Class of 2029, Indiana will implement a new high school diploma framework designed to provide students with more personalized pathways toward college, careers, and military service. Additional information about the new diploma requirements and readiness seals can be found on the IDOE Diploma Information webpage.
