Back-to-School Guide
Welcome to the new school year!
I am so excited to welcome your child back to school on Wednesday, July 30.
While students and staff have enjoyed summer break, the team in our Administration Center and schools has been busy preparing for the 2025-26 school year. So many great things happened last year, and I'm confident this will be yet another school year where ALL belong, learn, and grow in Avon Schools.
Here are just a few of the big things you can expect:
- Student enrollment should approach 11,000 this school year as more families continue moving into our community.
- All construction, renovation, and expansion projects are nearing completion! The dust is settling at AHS, AMS North, AMS South, AMS West, Cedar, Evergreen, Maple, River Birch, and Willow. Temporary classrooms are being hauled away, furniture has been redistributed, and all students will enjoy excellent learning environments no matter what school they attend.
- We will welcome a host of new educators, support staff, and bus drivers who are beginning careers here.
- Your children will get to know several new principals and assistant principals at AHS, AMS West, Maple, and River Birch.
- Our community will be engaged in discussions about our Operating Referendum Renewal this fall. You can learn more on our website.
I get just as excited for the start of a new school year as I did when I had my own classroom. I am looking forward to seeing your children in their classrooms, in action at performances and competitions, and enjoying the wide variety of extracurricular activities in and around Avon Schools.
I look forward to another school year of working together to ensure ALL belong, learn, and grow in Avon Schools.
Sincerely,
Scott Wyndham, Ed.D.
Superintendent

School Safety
Students learn best when they know they're safe.
Keeping students safe is our most important job. So, we collaborate with town, township, county, state, and national safety officials on national best practices. In addition to our central office staff and our incredible ACSC Police Department, we employ 23 certified Indiana School Safety Specialists who are trained to lead the development and implementation of school safety practices within our schools. Thirty-five employees have completed School Safety Specialist training.
Transportation
We are here to get your child to and from school safely and on time.
Every year, the Transportation Department receives thousands of calls from parents/guardians. So we can respond to your calls in a timely manner, we operate a temporary call center to assist with questions concerning transportation. Well-informed individuals who have the knowledge to answer your questions will be available beginning Monday, July 14.
Contact the Transportation hotline at (317) 544-6150 to learn more.
Newly Enrolled Students
In most cases, transport can begin within 36-48 hours.
- Parents should contact the school of enrollment to request student be added to a bus route.
- School secretary verifies address information and communicates request with Transportation.
- Transportation confirms bus detail with school secretary.

- Parents of preschool/kindergarten students must complete the 'Preschool & Kindergarten Bus Stop Pick Up Authorization Form' by logging in to PowerSchool Parent Portal. Once logged in, click on 'Forms' then the 'General Forms' tab. (No student will be released to a person other than a parent or guardian if the form is not completed.)

High School Seniors
If you are the parent or guardian of a senior who attends Avon High School and they are in need of bus service for the 2024-25 school year, you must contact the transportation office to arrange bus service. Seniors are not automatically placed on the school bus roster at the beginning of the year. If a student intends to ride a bus, transportation must be notified as soon as possible. This process must be completed even if the student was a bus rider the previous school year.
We will provide transportation if we receive notification from a parent or guardian. Please contact Transportation at (317) 544-6140.
