    Subject/Grade: Spanish 1

My name is Susi Clark and this is my eleventh year at Avon. I graduated from Purdue University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education, and a minor in German. I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration through Ball State in 2011. I am currently teaching Spanish and love it! How I learned Spanish...It all started with Spanish 1 in the 9th grade. I continued to study Spanish all through high school, and it was always my favorite class. After my junior year of high school, I spent two months abroad in San Luis Potosi, Mexico with the IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages. This is a great program for students who love languages.  During my trip, I lived with a Mexican family for two months, and was not allowed to speak any English during that time. I attended daily classes with other students from Indiana. After that summer, I knew that I wanted to study Spanish in college. During the summers in college, I worked for the IU Honors Program, and returned to San Luis Potosi several times. Colonial Mexico is my favorite place to explore, but I have also had the chance to work on my Spanish in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Spain, Argentina, Peru and Costa Rica.I love teaching and sharing my passion for languages, other cultures, and places. When I'm not working, I'm most likely traveling or on a lake somewhere with my husband and two young children.
