Mrs. Schilling's Class News
I hope you all enjoyed your Winter Break. I know that I feel refreshed and ready to hit the ground running. I have completely enjoyed hear the kids talk about what they did over break, what they got for Christmas, and all the family and friends they got to spend time with.
We will be taking things slow this week. I will not be introducing new skills. We will be refreshing / reviewing classroom expectations/ procedures and setting some classroom and personal goals for 2018. This is extremely important so we will have an easy transition back into the academics next week. This is a great time to fresh/set up good homework habits.
- Set aside the same 15-30 minutes each night for your child to read.
- Record the reading immediately after they finish reading.
- Always return schoolbooks back to the backpack as soon as they are finished with them.
- Remove papers from the blue communication folder daily.
Report Cards: Report Cards will come home this Friday. Inside the envelope, you will find the normal report card and a math skills report. If you have any questions, please contact me and we will set up a time to talk. Please sign and return the report card envelop. You keep the reports for your records.
Winter Recess: First grade goes outside for recess whenever possible to burn some energy. The children should wear their winter coat and have a hat and gloves every day.
