Welcome to our class webpage!
Scholastic Book orders are due in class or on-line this Tuesday.Remember, we go outside if the weather is 15 degrees or warmer, and dry. Please make sure to send your child with a warm coat, hat and gloves. It never reaches the "high" temp they say on the news until well after our recess. We have 4 Units in Reading/Language Arts/Social studies in first grade. We will begin our Third Unit called "Cooperation" on January 7. It will continue until Spring Break. As we are now in the third quarter of school, students will be expected to write THREE sentences on their spelling test each Friday. On most days the Homework/Friday Folder will have graded or checked work from the previous day. Please take a few minutes to go over the papers with your child. If your student did poorly on graded work he or she should correct and return the paper the next day. There is a link to SpellingCity.com on this website. Each week I will update it with that week's spelling pattern words and high frequency words. Your student can use the site to quiz themselves and to play fun games to practice our words.PLEASE, PLEASE help your child to return all reading books every day. Sometimes another reading group will need the book your child brings home the next day and sometimes your child will need it in class. So, it's very important to remember to RETURN ALL READING BOOKS DAILY.A few reminders...*Wear or bring tennis shoes on gym day.*Bring back library books each Thursday.*Complete the once a week math homework and return it the next day.*The school district is looking for additional guest teachers (substitutes). The pay is $80 for a full day (more if you are a certified teacher) and $40 for a half day. If you are interested please apply at the ACSC site under Human Resources.
