Welcome to our class webpage!

  • I'm glad you were able to stop by our class web page.

Thank you to everyone who sent supplies to school for our Thanksgiving "Feast."  Students made butter and their own corn muffin and most tried pumpkin pie and apple cider.  We had a good time.  Thank you for your help.

Between now and our Winter Break we will be participating in a STEM activity of designing and making "gingerbread houses" out of graham crackers, frosting, and candy.  We will also have a class party on December 18.  I will send a parent square soon for sign ups to send supplies to help with both of these activities.

On December 18 we will also have a book exchange activity as part of our party.  Please send a wrapped book ($5 or less) that is suitable for a boy or girl to school anytime between now and December 18.  Scholastic has some great books that cost less than $5 and our classroom earns free books from each order.

We will have one last Scholastic Book order before our Winter Break.  Please send your order to school by Friday or order on-line by Saturday.  The newest order forms are in the Monday homework folder.

Please remind your child how important it is to wear his or her mask at school. Also, please help him or her remember to bring a water bottle, and the homework or Friday
folders, and reading books to school every day.  We have had a lot of friends forgetting these things lately.

Please follow the link to SpellingCity.com.  You may choose a Unit list for your child to access.  He or she will then have access to several games to play with those words, spelling practice with a "test" or even download handwriting papers

Our Unit 6 Trick Words:  were, are, who, what, when, where, there, here

In Unit 6 we will be adding the suffix  -s to a short vowel base word  (sometimes it will make the sound /s/ and sometimes /z/)

    Examples: bug-bugs, shell-shells, shop-shops

Because of our short week last week. Some of the weekly homework may be confusing.  Week 2 "Wednesday" is this Monday and Week 2 "Thursday" is this Tuesday.  Week 3 "Monday" starts on Wednesday this week.  We will not have homework on Friday.

Please help your child to remember to return all reading books and folders each morning.

If you send money to school, please put it in an envelope or a ziploc bag with your child's name and the purpose of the money.  That way I can help your child get the money to the right place.
If you haven't had a chance to explore the Bridges Math activities and resources there, feel free to do it at any time.
If you need to reach me with any questions or concerns this year please feel free to send a note in your child's folder, call me at 544-6200 or email me nrmoon@avon-schools.org.
