Mrs. Kristen Nicoson, School Librarian
According to the American Association of School Librarians, “The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information” (Section 1, para. 1). Equally important is the mission of fostering a lifetime love of reading within each student. More than just a book repository, the school library is a place where research, learning, and collaboration happen with the help of a qualified school librarian. Therefore, the mission of the Cedar Elementary School library program is two-fold: First, the school library, by nature of its arrangement and offerings will inspire students to read and consider themselves readers. Second, the library staff, and resources will help to transform the students and faculty into teams of enthusiastic and globally-minded information users.
