I'm so excited for another awesome year as your child's art teacher at Pine Tree!
The 2018-2019 school year is my 3rd year here and my 8th year of teaching overall. I grew up right here in Avon, and many moons ago, I was once a student at Pine Tree! I graduated from Indiana University with my degree in Visual Arts Education. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach in various environments including public schools, non-profit organizations, art history and painting classes at Brown County State Park, and even tennis lessons with the former Avon High School tennis coach, Stan Malless. I spent 2 years teaching 8th grade art in Elkhart Community Schools and then relocated to Indianapolis where I taught art for 3 years in the MSD of Wayne Township. I am happy that I have finally returned to my roots to the district and the school that I call home! I am so excited for many great art experiences with your child this year and the years to come. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns. After every unit of study in art - about every month - I choose ONE student in EACH grade level for the Awesome Artist Award. Awesome Artists are students who go above and beyond to persist through challenges and do his/her personal best in art class. It is difficult to choose just one student per grade level because we have been working very hard in the art room, and I truly believe that all of our kids are awesome in their own way. Students who earn the Awesome Artist Award receive a special certificate, a parent letter, get his/her artwork displayed in the class case outside the art room, AND get to be on the Pine Tree News!Congratulations to our November Awesome Artists!Joy Crook from Mrs. Hutchison's Kindergarten ClassIsaiah Brown from Mrs. McCord's 1st Grade ClassMacayla Luie from Mrs. Allpaw's 2nd Grade ClassJade Rodriguez from Miss Gilbert's 3rd Grade ClassRogin Goodwin from Mr. McKibban's 4th Grade ClassHover your mouse over the images to see the name of each student artist.Mrs. Argote is already watching closely to see who will earn the next Awesome Artist Awards. Any student can win! Show the world how awesome you are!Dress for a Mess!
- Remember to have your child "dress for a mess" on art days just in case we get messy in art class. Save favorite clothes for another time or leave an old shirt designated to be an "art shirt" in his/her backpack so that we are always prepared. We practice working neatly in art class, but sometimes accidents happen!
- FYI: Mrs. Argote does have aprons that are available to use upon request. We just don't use them on a regular basis because we don't always get messy and the ties and knots can get tricky with our limited amount of class time.

- Uh-Oh! Did your child get an art class stain on his/her clothes? Feel free to call or e-mail Mrs. Argote for tips and tricks to get the clothes clean again! (Yes, even permanent marker has a chance of coming clean!)
