Mrs. Tauer (pronounced tower) is the Avon High School Broadcasting Teacher. She teaches: Introduction to Communications, Radio and Television 1, and Radio and Television 2 with Vincennes University dual credit. She is an Avon HS graduate and attended Area 31 for radio and television. She then went to Ball State University to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications and Journalism (newstrack) and a Master's Degree in Journalism. She was also a Ball State University Journalism Writing Center Coach. Mrs. Tauer completed many internships while in college, including: WTHR13, INside Indiana Business, and Pearson Education. While earning her master's degree Mrs. Tauer began working at FOX59 & CBS4 in Indianapolis. She came straight from the news business as a former producer to teach our students and was named "Rookie Teacher of the Year" during her first year of teaching at AHS in the 2017-2018 school year. Avon TV gives students hands-on, immersive learning experiences with professionals visiting the classroom throughout the year, among many other opportunities! Students in the TV program can also become members of the "AHS Student Television Network" Club and Honors Society! Mrs. Tauer is also a co-sponsor for the freshman class of student government. On a personal note, Mrs. Tauer loves going to concerts and movies and loves her 2 pugs, 3 cats, and turtle!
