10 AHS Scholars are National Merit Semifinalists

10 AHS Scholars are National Merit Semifinalists
A record number of Avon High School students — 10! — have earned the academic distinction of being named National Merit Semifinalists.
According to a press release from the National Merit Scholarship Program, "These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $24 million that will be offered next spring." Program executives anticipate that 95% of semifinalists attain finalist standing and approximately half of finalists win scholarships.
