AHS Alum Returns, Inspires Students
by Bill Caulton, AHS English Teacher & Publications Advisor
Alumnus Tristan Fitzpatrick paid a visit to his old newspaper classroom on May 17. Fitzpatrick, a graduate of the class of 2014, works as a senior communications consultant at APCO Worldwide. He spoke to Bill Caulton’s newspaper class about career opportunities in communications and media as well as his own experiences in the industry.
One message he conveyed to the class was to never be afraid to try new things.
“There’s always more opportunities than you may think exist out there in the world,” Fitzpatrick said.
Fitzpatrick, who was co-editor-in-chief of The Echo his senior year of high school, also encouraged students to find their own voice. For him, that journey started while writing for the high school newspaper.
“I really felt like I started to find it here when I was working on the paper. Certainly I learned how to write concisely, effectively. It all started here,” Fitzpatrick said.
