AHS Junior Reaches 1,000 Points and Counting
by Will Staal
Junior Aniah Smith scored her 1,000th point in the classic in the city in Ohio. In doing so, she moved into seventh place on the all time Avon High School scoring list and became the fastest girls basketball player in school history to reach 1,000 points.
She has cemented herself as one of the best basketball players in Avon High School history and she still has her senior year left. She makes the hard things look easy, takes adversity and turns it into an opportunity to grow, and succeeds at a high level. Whether it be leading the team to ranked wins or attending youth basketball games to show her support, Aniah takes pride in the program and does so much for the Avon Orioles.
At Cathedral on Wednesday night, she set the school record for points in a season, already scoring 420 points. In addition to these accomplishments, she has set the school record for steals in a game, 18 at Terre Haute North, and points in a game, with 39 at Plainfield.
We look forward to seeing Aniah continue to break records!
