AHS Names 3 New Assistant Principals

At the May 9 meeting of the Avon Board of School Trustees, Dr. Wyndham recommended the following candidates to fill three recently vacated Assistant Principal positions at Avon High School. All three were approved unanimously. They will begin their new roles in Avon this summer.

Emily Garrett

Ms. Garrett is coming to AHS once she concludes her service as Assistant Principal and Dean at Central High School in Evansville. Before she became a school administrator, she was a high school social studies teacher and academic coordinator at Castle High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington and her Master's degree and principal's licensure at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dr. Aaron Willis

Dr. Willis has been serving as Dean at AHS since 2020. Before becoming an Oriole, Dr. Willis was a science teacher at Goshen High School and South Bend. He served as a coach in both of these districts as well. Dr. Willis completed his Bachelor's degree at Valporaiso University, his Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia University, and his Doctor of Education at Nebraska Methodist College. 

Dr. Dan Peo

Dr. Peo comes to AHS from Lafayette, where he currently serves as Assistant Principal at Wea Ridge Middle School. He previously served as Interim Assistant Principal and completed his administrative internship at McCutcheon High School. Prior to moving into administration, Dr. Peo was a Band Director at McCutcheon and at Seeger Jr./Sr. High School. Dr. Peo completed his Ph.D. at Indiana State University. He earned his Master's in Education at Purdue. His Bachelor's degree in Music Education was earned at Indiana State.
