AHS Senior Chosen as US Senate Youth Delegate

AHS Senior Chosen as US Senate Youth Delegate

Avon High School senior Calleigh Neal is headed to Washington DC this March as a delegate to the 63rd annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). She will join Indiana Senators Todd Young and Jim Banks representing the great state of Indiana during Washington Week, March 1-8.

Calleigh is one of only two Indiana high school seniors who earned this honor for 2025.

"I am so honored to represent Indiana as well as the Avon community in March," says Calleigh. "I've heard so many great things about Washington Week, and I am so excited to experience it myself. I am also greatful to the Hears Foundation for their generous scholarship."

She and her fellow Indiana representative will join 102 other US high school seniors on the trip, where she will attend meetings and briefings with senators. She'll meet the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, leaders of cabinet agencies, and other officials while she is there.

I am so honored to represent Indiana as well as the Avon community. Calleigh Neal

Calleigh's father, Davey, says, "We're incredibly greatful to Avon High School administration for supporting Calleigh throughout this highly competitive process. We appreciate the commitment to excellence by the Indiana Bar Foundation, the Hearst Foundation, and the United States Senate. We are delighted Calleigh has this opportunity!"

Calleigh is a deserving individual, and she's sure to use this experience as yet another building block in her growth and development.

In a press release, the USSYP described Calleigh as follows:
