AIS East Student Sprints Across Nation
Avon Intermediate East student Kam'Ron Farrington is fast!
This summer, Kam'Ron ran with the Major Sports Performance (MSP) track club. Every time he participated in a Saturday track meet he would place first or second. According to his Mom, Mallarie Dailey, by the time the Indiana Youth Track Association state competition rolled around, Kam'Ron was in full stride. He received gold medals in the 200-, 400-, and 800-meter finals. "He never trained on the 800 [before state]," notes Dailey. "His coach told him he would sign him up to see how he would do."
Kam'Ron holds a #1 USA Track & Field (USATF) ranking in Indiana for the 800. He is #2 in the state for the 400 and #4 in the 400.
After his state competition triumphs, Kam'Ron and his family traveled to Champaign, Illinois, so he could compete in the USATF Regionals. He took home 2nd in both the 400 and 800 and 4th in the 200, and that brought an invitation to travel further westward to compete in Nationals.
During his time in Eugene, Oregon, Kam'ron sprinted to 16th in the 800 and 31st place in the 400.
"This experience was amazing," says Dailey. "Kam'Ron just started running last year and it has been such an amazing experience!"
Congratulations, Kam'Ron. We look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future. You're sure off to a fast start!
