Avon Academy Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Tuesday, July 25, dozens gathered at the newly remodeled Avon Schools Administration Center to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand-new Simon Youth Academy at Avon, or Avon Academy.

Avon Academy Coordinator Kellie Rodkey led a short but meaningful ceremony with excitement and a long list of individuals and organizations to which she is grateful. She was then joined at the podium by Avon Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham, President of the Avon Board of School Trustees Anne Engelhardt, CEO/President of Simon Youth Academy Andrea Neely, several Avon Academy students, and Rev. Danielle Cox of Avon Christian Church.

Friends, family, community leaders, and colleagues filled the room. The Academy staff, the Avon Board of School Trustees, Simon Youth Foundation staff, Principal Matt Shockley and the AHS administrative team, representatives from the Greater Avon Chamber of Commerce, and many more took in the occasion before moving outdoors for the ribbon cutting.

We are excited for our partnership with Simon Youth Foundation. We're even more excited to welcome nearly 80 students to Avon Academy when the doors open tomorrow morning for the first day of school.
