Avon Marching Black & Gold are State Champions
The Avon Marching Black & Gold are once again Indiana State Champions. They were crowned at the culmination of last weekend's Indiana State School Music Association Marching Band State Finals competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is AMBG's 16th State Championship.
"I could not be more excited, happy, and proud of our directors, design team, staff, parents, and — most importantly — our amazing students," says Director Matt Harloff before turning his attention to the next challenge. "The year has been so incredibly special and we are looking forward to these last few days together as we prepare for the Bands of America Grand National Championships on November 9-11."
AMBG will compete for their 4th Bands of America Grand National Championships title.
“Our Avon Marching Black & Gold students and staff work extremely hard to create incredible performances like the one this weekend," says Avon High School Principal Matt Shockley, who was in attendance to witness the spectacle. "The musicianship, artistry, and athleticism displayed on the field is inspiring. I am so happy for all of them and wish them continued success as they now prepare for BOA Grand Nationals!”
The mission of the band program is to provide life-changing and world-class experiences for all students, and each student who participated this year will have memories to last a lifetime.
Avon Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham says, "The Avon Marching Black & Gold students and staff work so hard and are great representatives of our school district bringing pride to the entire Avon community. I’m so proud of their success this year and their tradition of excellence!”
In addition to competing this fall and preparing for winter competitions, AMBG students, staff, and supporters are already busy raising funds and preparing for their trip to New York City to perform in the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Learn more by visiting avonband.com.
