Avon Shines at Annual Celebration of Leadership

Avon Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham and Avon High School junior Jay Desai were both honored at Leadership Hendricks County's annual Celebration of Leaders.

Jay Desai • 2025 Youth Leader of the Year

Currently, Jay is ranked at the top of the class of 2027. Recently recognized as an Indiana Rising Star for his academic performance, Jay is also deeply involved in leadership roles at school and across the community. Among other things, he is a student captain of the state champion AHS Speech & Debate Team, serves as the President of the TEDx Club, and serves as a mentor for the Spark Youth Leadership program.

Dr. Scott Wyndham • 2025 Suzanne Whicker Distinguished Service Award

Since becoming Superintendent in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Dr. Wyndham has made an unmistakable mark on Avon Schools, the Avon-Washington Township community, Hendricks County, and beyond. He has guided Avon's 11,000 students and 1,600 employees through a season of enrollment growth, school construction and renovation, student and staff redistricting, and, most notably, the renewal of the school corporation's operating referendum. In addition to his humble, steady, and principled leadership in Avon Schools, Dr. Wyndham serves on multiple boards and belongs to numerous civic organizations.
