Avon Speech Wins 5th Consecutive Sectional

Saturday, February 28, was an incredible day! The Avon High School Speech team won Sectionals for the fifth year in a row and qualified 37 out of 40 students for State competition. Even more impressive, Avon earned 11 of the 13 individual sectional championships.

Individual Sectional champions are as follows:

• Broadcasting: Idowu Adeleke
• Discussion: Fola Ayantoye
• Duo Interpretation: Sam Johnson & Noah Johnson
• Humorous Interpretation: Noah Johnson
• International Extemp: Santiago Jimenez
• Informative Speaking: Nancy Orogun
• Original Oratory: Isabella Carter
• Poetry: Doyin Akande
• Program Oral Interpretation: Doyin Akande
• Prose: Kennedy Berry
• US Extemp: Janani Devendran

Next weekend is the National Qualifying tournament at Bloomington South. Our final weekend is March 14 at Penn High School for the State Finals.
