Avon Welcomes New Officers

Avon School Police Department Chief Sam Leahy swore in two new officers, Mason Butler and Joshua Whitfield, in front of family members, friends, members of the Department, and district leaders on Tuesday, April 7. 

Mason Butler

Mason comes to Avon with three years of valuable experience working closely with youth in school settings, building strong relationships, mentoring students, and promoting a positive and safe environment. His dedication to supporting and guiding young people, along with his commitment to community involvement, has helped shape his leadership and communication skills. We look forward to the positive impact he will have in serving and protecting our community.

Joshua Whitfield

Joshua previously served within Indianapolis Public Schools as a Mentor and Behavioral Adjustment Facilitator, where he had the opportunity to support and guide students through both academic and personal challenges. He is incredibly grateful to be part of Avon Schools, where he will continue to invest in students as a mentor and positive role model. As he pursues his role with the department, he looks forward to continuing his dedication to mentoring youth while playing an active role in keeping the community safe.
