Avon's Indiana Academic All-Star

AHS senior Emma Cooper is a 2022 Indiana Association of School Principals Indiana Academic All-Star. 

This prestigious honor is awarded to 40 high school seniors who excel in the classroom and who are active leaders in their schools and communities. She is the fifth AHS recipient of this prestigious honor since 2004.

"I am so happy for Emma," says Principal Matt Shockley. " I am amazed at how Emma has juggled high academic expectations along with her numerous school and community commitments. Yet, she sets high standards for herself and fights through adversity, persevering to reach her goals and aspirations."

A well-rounded individual, Emma has made quite an impression on the teacher she chose as her Honored Educator. "In my 33 years working with high achieving mathematics students, Emma is one of the top-3 hardest workers I have ever encountered," says Emma's Honored Educator, AHS AP Calculus Teacher Mr. Record. "She will do absolutely everything and anything to tackle those hard-to-learn concepts so that she can internalize them and apply them to later concepts. Her work ethic is simply inspiring!"

Emma will attend Purdue University in the fall.

Shockley says Emma "will make a lasting, positive difference in her circle of influence for years to come."
