Board Meets AIS West Outstanding Students

At their May 9 meeting, the Avon Board of School Trustees heard a presentation from a group of outstanding Avon Intermediate West Students.

These students — Avery, Brantley, Zoe, Rylynn, and Michael are — growing as leaders through their role as SOAR Ambassadors.

SOAR Ambassadors are students who model school expectations:

  • Stay Safe
  • Own Our School
  • Achieve Your Best
  • Respect All

SOAR is a student leadership club that equips students to encourage their peers by setting the example of SOARing behavior. The group consists of a total of more than 60 representatives from both 5th and 6th grade. Among other things, in their role, they create and operate a program to welcome new students to AIS West, create inclusion-focused videos to help educate the school family, and sponsor Zoom game night.

Their leadership isn't limited to the four walls of AIS West. They are also deeply involved in serving the community by leading the annual Project Angel food drive, donating funds to Sheltering Wings, and hosting community clean-up days.

These students are not just leaders of tomorrow. They are leaders of today.

Congratulations to these outstanding students and to all of the students and educators who are helping AIS West SOAR.
