Cedar Kindness Club Makes a Difference

Cedar Kindness Club Makes a Difference

The Kindness Club has made a difference throughout Cedar Elementary School and community this year.

This amazing group of students has continually shown compassion, generosity, and a desire to help others through many meaningful service projects.

Over the course of the year, the club created more than 60 care packages and handmade cards for nurses at Hendricks Regional Health, along with over 60 cards and special homemade gifts for patients. Their thoughtful efforts helped spread encouragement and kindness to so many members of our community.

These students continue to grow in their ability to share love, compassion, and care for others.

In addition to supporting the hospital, the Kindness Club collected cold-weather items and more than 200 new and gently used books for the Mary Lee Maier Food Pantry. Earlier this fall, students visited the Pantry to learn more about how the organization serves local families, while volunteering their time to help stock and organize shelves.

The students also showed appreciation for our own school community by organizing two teacher and staff treat and drink deliveries that included special care packages.

This spring, several Kindness Club students and their families took time out of their evening to join Cedar Librarian Michele Stolz in visiting an Avon assisted living facility to spread joy to residents. Together, the students decorated flower pots, planted flowers, and created tie-dye butterfly bookmarks. Residents also received small goodie bags filled with snacks and homemade magnets.

Finally, several members volunteered their time to help with the Kindness Club booth at Cedar Celebrates, where they helped create the club’s very first kindness symbol and motto.

These students continue to grow in their ability to share love, compassion, and care for others. We are incredibly proud of the positive impact they have made throughout the year and will continue to make as they continue to belong, learn, and grow in Avon.
