Celebrating Orioles - May '24

Celebrating Orioles - May '24

At their April 22 working session, the Avon Board of School Trustees took time to honor academic excellence at two of our schools and to honor a member of the class of '24.

Principal Karie Mize and members of the White Oak Early Learning Center staff were joined by several energetic students. While the adults talked about the importance of structured play at White Oak, the students impressed everyone with their physical abilities and enthusiasm.

Robotics is one of the STEM activities that is gaining a lot of attention and having a lot of success in Avon Schools. Principal Matt Hines and several staff and students from the AMS North Robotics Club brought a robot and spoke about how their participation in the robotics club is improving their academic and extra-curricular experience at North.

Finally, senior Owen Carr has been serving as the Avon Oriole mascot since seventh grade. The Board issued a Resolution of Commendation — the highest award they can give — recognizing Owen's enthusiastic participation at AHS, his impact upon students in our elementary schools, and his plans to continue making a difference beyond graduation.

Congratulations, students and staff!
