Celebrating our '23 AHS Valedictorian

At a work session on Monday, May 15, the Avon Board of School Trustees issued a commendation honoring the AHS Class of '23 Valedictorian Katherine Langford. 

The commendation highlights a selection of Katherine's achievements:

• Valedictorian of the Avon High School Class of 2023 with a 5.3279 GPA and will attend the University of Notre Dame
• Served as the DECA State President and is a two-time state champion and international finalist in Market Management Team Decision Making
• Two-time state champion and three-time national qualifier in Congressional Debate
• Recognized by Indiana Association of School Principals as one of 40 Indiana Academic All-Stars
• Plays cello in the symphony orchestra, serves as student government Vice President of Student Affairs, and is a varsity tennis player
• Founded the community programs Rise Empowering Girls through Reading and the Hendricks County Speakers Bureau
• Earned the Lilly Endowment and Hesbrugh-Yusko scholarships
• National Merit Commended Student, AP Scholar with Distinction, Wells Scholar Finalist, National Speech and Debate Honor Society Academic All-American, Rising Star of Indiana, and 4-H 10-year member

A resolution of commendation is the highest level of distinction given by the Avon Community School Corporation.
