Celebrating River Birch Students
At their November 27 working session, the Avon Board of School Trustees celebrated several River Birch Elementary students.
River Birch Principal Heather Gorgas shared this report about the event:
Kindergarten students, and their grownups, were celebrated for being full educational partners with our teachers to ensure their children learn at high levels. The students we celebrated were invited to our kindergarten camp sponsored by IU Health. The goal of the camp is to provide a jump start to learning before the year begins. Students started learning routines, built relationships with school staff, and received extra instruction in areas they may need more support. The greatest news of all — because the families committed to the camp attended parent teacher conferences, and our students are working so hard to learn their letters, sounds, and numbers — they are all performing on grade level! We are so proud of the efforts of the students and their families. It takes a village!
Surrounded by their teachers and their proud parents and caregivers, these young learners got to present to district leaders and answer their questions.
