Dr. Wyndham Talks Growth, Educators on News Broadcast

Dr. Wyndham Talks Growth, Educators on News Broadcast

Our Superintendent, Dr. Scott Wyndham, joined the August 10 WISH-TV Daybreak broadcast to talk about Avon Schools.

During the interview, he shared about our smooth start to the 2022-23 school year. (Kudos to students, parents/caregivers, and staff for making that happen!) He also got to discuss some of the incredible enrollment growth we are experiencing here in Avon. According to the Indiana Department of Education, since 2019, Avon Schools has been the third fastest growing school district in Indiana by enrollment growth. He mentioned upcoming renovation and expansion projects at Avon High School and Pine Tree Elementary. Both projects are designed to make room for more students and to improve the experience for all.

Dr. Wyndham took time to address the statewide teacher shortage, an issue he referred to as "real." Due to our efforts to recruit effectively, he shared that much of our work has focused on retaining excellent educators. A big part of that process has been our work to establish Professional Learning Communities. This focus has bonded educators to one another, provided a context in which teachers can take a data-driven approach to improve all student outcomes, and improved the already strong culture among educators.

It's great to be part of a growing, vibrant school district.
