Gold Card Holders Gather at AHS

Gold Card Holders Gather at AHS

Avon's Gold Card Holders gathered at Avon High School to mix and mingle with one another, hear important district updates, tour the school, and, most importantly, hear from two groups of students and educators.

Aubrey Spaeth and three of her stellar students talked with attendees about their work with the Lil' Orioles Preschool Learning Lab. The students are all planning to use their hands-on experiences working with preschool-aged children in their careers: two are planning to become pediatricians and the third plans to be a kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Spaeth, a longtime kindergarten teacher, is on a mission to train up the next generation of early childhood educators, and these students show that she's doing an outstanding job.

Stacey Hovermale and Melissa Echerd represent the Avon Youth Assistance Program, a group focused on serving as a resource to Avon students at Avon Academy and AHS. From helping students get driver's licenses to helping displaced students find places to live, AYAP is serving on the front lines of the mission to help all students succeed. A current Avon Academy student joined to share her experiences about her time at the Academy and the encouragement she's received from AYAP.
