I'm proud to be an Oriole!
Long before I became superintendent last summer, I was proud to be an Avon Oriole. I thought I was proud then, but I’m really proud now!
Over the last several months, I have had a front-row seat to witness the actions and hard work of our educators, students, parents, and our community in the face of a global pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a context in which the character of our community has been on display:
- Relentlessly creative, talented, and dedicated educators and staff
- Brilliant, resilient, and enthusiastic students
- Devoted, invested, and supportive parents and caregivers
- Supportive, compassionate, and loyal community organizations and businesses
I admire, respect, and appreciate the outstanding people who make up our school corporation. It is an absolute honor to serve as your superintendent.
What can we expect for the remaining months of the 2020-21 school year? We will remain:
Committed to health and safety
We will continue our corporation-wide work to monitor the spread of COVID-19, to report positive cases, and to contact trace according to guidelines maintained by local and state officials. You can continue to expect prompt and transparent communication from ACSC and your child’s school via website updates, ParentSquare messages, and personal calls and texts.
Focused upon academic growth
Academic growth remains the focus of our efforts. Each day, ACSC’s 1,400 employees – teachers, principals, support personnel, and district leaders – report to work committed to maximizing every hour Avon students have the opportunity to learn. Whether your child is one of the 86.4% of our students learning in-person or the 13.6% learning online, know we are fully committed to supporting their academic growth.
Invested in the whole child
Students can only learn and grow when they feel secure and valued. As a corporation, we will continue to foster an environment with the social and emotional support they need. To learn more, listen to episode 7 of the Orioles in the Know podcast.
I welcome opportunities to communicate with you. Please email me to arrange a phone call or meeting. I am proud to live and serve in the Avon community and I look forward to a great second semester of this school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Scott Wyndham
Superintendent
