Indiana's High School Orchestra Teacher of the Year

Avon High School Associate Director of Orchestras and Director of String Activities Joel Powell was named the Indiana High School Orchestra Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of the American String Teachers Association. He received the award at a banquet held at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Fort Wayne on January 17.

Avon's Middle School Orchestra Teachers were on-hand at the banquet to celebrate with Mr. Powell.

"I truly have the greatest job in the world," says Mr. Powell. "I get to use music as a vehicle to empower young people, and I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside so many dedicated and inspiring educators. I’m eternally thankful for my amazing students, colleagues, and community who make this work possible."
