Innovation Coordinator is a 2026 Mira Awards Finalist

Avon Community School Corporation Innovation Coordinator Amanda Moore is a finalist for a prestigious Mira Award as Indiana's NexTech Computer Science Teacher of the Year.

For many years, Avon Schools has had a strong emphasis on providing engaging STEM experiences for students from preschool through graduation. For one of our educators to receive this honor affirms not only her excellent work but the work that's happening across Avon.

According to Techpoint's website, "the Mira Awards is Indiana’s biggest night for tech, with award categories spanning talent and innovation. From rising stars to industry leaders, the black tie gala honors the people and companies building what’s next."

Amanda is a deserving finalist.

In her role, Amanda co-leads STEM and computer science initiatives across our eight elementary schools. "I design and write district STEM curriculum, support teachers through coaching and professional learning, and create hands-on, inquiry-based experiences — including community-connected projects — that help students apply STEM skills to real-world problems and explore future career pathways," says Amanda. "I am especially passionate about helping students realize they can impact their community and the world right now — they don’t have to wait until they are grown up to make a difference."

The annual NexTech Computer Science Teacher of the Year award recognizes Indiana educators who have made an exceptional impact in computer science education. It highlights innovative teaching practices, a commitment to equity and access, and advancing computer science education on a large scale.

"Being named a finalist," says Amanda, "is an honor and a reflection of the incredible students, educators, and community partners I get to learn from and collaborate with every day."
