Kindness Club Members Make a Difference

Kindness Club Members Make a Difference

by Kristi Kerr, Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry Executive Director

On Monday, 33 members of the Cedar Elementary School Kindness Club visited the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry on a field trip. They learned more about the pantry, delivered food for spring break boxes and birthday bags they collected, and worked to shelve donations. The donations they put away had actually been collected by two other schools — the Maple Eelementary School Kindness Club and Hickory Elementary School Student Council!

Thank you to Cedar Librarian Michele Stolz for organizing this group of wonderful students. It was so fun to witness their energy and enthusiasm for helping others. Thank you also to Cedar Principal Adam Allen for supporting the field trip. Thank you to Avon Intermediate School East Principal Stephane Bordelon for helping with the logistics of the buses. It was really a great day.

While they were at the pantry, the Kindness Club was given their certificate from the MLMCP board for being Heroes of the Month in December. That month, they hosted a drive to collect hats, gloves, and scarves for our families. They truly are busy showing kindness.

I just wanted to pass along these amazing students and share some good news.
