The Library Minute with Kirah

The Library Minute with Kirah

In Avon Schools, our libraries are hubs of activity. They are centers of learning, imagination, and excitement. In each issue of Oriole Blast, we'll feature a select book review by an Avon student. In addition to enjoying the chance to hear from them, maybe they'll get you hooked on a book.

My name is Kirah, and I'm a student in Mr. McKibban's class at Pine Tree Elementary. This is my review of Can You Survive the Titanic? by Allison Lassieur.

Have you ever heard of the Titanic? Well, if you like or are interested in it, I definitely recommend this book! It is called Can You Survive the Titanic? and it’s a You Choose book. In this book you get to choose your path and get different endings. You technically get a tiny peak at what the Titanic was like. You are a passenger on the Titanic and sometimes you are even a crew member. Do you think you can survive the sinking of the unsinkable ship?

I especially like this book because it’s fun to read. Not only that but if you finish the book there are other You Choose books, there is a whole series of them. They are also all written by different people. Lastly, I like how it brings the book to life. For instance, I like how the details make it to where you feel like you're there in your mind.

I hope you decide to try it. Enjoy!

If your child is inspired to check out this recommendation, they may get it from their school library, by visiting our friends at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library or pick up a copy online.
