National Art Honor Society Mural Project

If you've driven past the Jiffy Lube on US 36 in Avon, you'll notice it's getting a coat of fresh paint. This is in preparation to an exciting partnership between Jiffy Lube, Avon Education Foundation, and The National Art Honor Society of Avon High School.

National Art Honor Society students will work with a professional artist this summer to paint a giant mural on the business.

"What we thought might be a cool way to cover up some graffiti at our Broad Ripple Jiffy Lube back in 2016 has turned into an incredibly well received, national award winning public art project," says Steve Sanner, co-owner of Jiffy Lube of Indiana. "The Avon Jiffy Lube location will be our 28th mural, but it is the first time we have worked with a high school Arts Department. We are very excited to create potentially life changing opportunities for the Avon High School student artists."

This isn't a one-and-done project. Jiffy Lube intends to create a new mural with AHS National Art Honor Society students every three years so students will be able to include their work in their art school application portfolios.

“This mural is an opportunity the National Art Honor Society students will never forget," says club sponsor Lacy Ryan. "It is a chance for them to give back to the community as well as share their talents on what will likely be the biggest canvas they will ever work on."

We're excited to see your work, students!
