Orchestra Student Performs at Pacers Game
by Kyle Miller
The Indiana Pacers played against the Sacramento Kings last Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and an Avon Middle School South student and violinist Nair Rivera Reyes wasn't just there to watch the game. Nair participates in an extra-curricular ensemble, the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and they performed the National Anthem.
"It was a great experience to learn about how to play a gig with your friends," Nair told me. "You get to learn how to play in front of a larger audience than ever before and definitely work through stage fright if you have it. After the game, people were so thankful that the group played, and they congratulated all of my friends and fellow players. I felt very happy to give back to the community and felt pride in how we played."
Go, Pacers! Bravo, Nair!
