River Birch Gets a Silver Star

River Birch Gets a Silver Star

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) notified River Birch Elementary that they had earned the Indiana Silver Star School Counseling Award.

River Birch earned the designation because of the excellent school counseling services they offer.

"One of our school corporation's goals is to support student well-being, mental wellness, and the whole child," says Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham. "Students learn best when they know they are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. The team at River Birch is doing an excellent job creating a positive environment for students and I'm proud of the work they are doing."

According to IDOE, the school counseling portfolio River Birch has developed "reflects the commitment you and your school have to provide an effective school counseling program, offering direct and indirect services to students, planning your program intentionally, and striving to improve student outcomes."

Principal Heather Gorgas, Assistant Principal Karmesha Molton, School Counselor Kyle Kopke, and other members of the River Birch team will be honored at the Indiana School Counselor Association Conference on November 9 and 10.

Congratulations, River Birch. Thank you for making sure all belong, learn, and grow!
