Roboriole Wins Prestigious Award
The Avon High School Roborioles recently sent three teams to the Indiana State championships recently. All three teams competed well. One team reached the semifinals, but that wasn't the biggest news. The highlight was seeing a student achieve the highest honor available to individual students in Indiana robotics competitions.
Peyton Holloway is a Dean's List finalist.
"This is the only individual award for students and is a big deal in the FIRST Robotics world," says AHS Robotics Coach Chris Hill. "She is the first finalist we have ever had and has earned a trip to World's Champs in Houston. Only three students from Indiana are recognized for this award. She was selected because of her dedication to Robotics and growing STEM in our community."
According to FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology), students win this award based upon demonstrated leadership and commitment to the FIRST Core Values, effectiveness at increasing awareness of FIRST in their schools and community, a demonstrated passion for a long-term commitment to FIRST, individual contributions to the overall success of their team, and proven experience in STEM.
Congratulations, Payton! Thank you for representing Avon so well.
