Robotics Teams Compete at State, Gear Up for Worlds

Robotics Teams Compete at State, Gear Up for Worlds

by AHS Robotics Coach Chris Hill

On Saturday, March 14, Avon High School Robotics Teams put in a strong performance at the State Championship match at UIndy.

Four Avon High School teams qualified for the State Championship Match because of their performance during this year's competition season. Historically, Avon has struggled at the State Championship Match, but this year their fortunes turned around. After 35 rounds of qualification matches, Avon had three teams ranked in the top 10, with Team 26897 ranked at number two.

During Playoffs, Team 26897 and Team 21945 were able to advance to place third in the Tournament. Team 14954 finished runner up in the State along with their partners, Team 32888 Mach-8.

The highlight of the day was Team 14954 was able to qualify for the World Championship match because of their robot and presentation performance. The World Championship takes place in Houston, Texas in May. This is only the second time Avon has had a team qualify for Worlds.

Congratulations, students!
