Sarah Valentin is a Top 25 Finalist

The list of 25 finalists for the Indiana Teacher of the Year includes Avon Community School Corporation Teacher of the Year Sarah Valentin!

"Being a top 25 finalist for Indiana State Teacher of the Year makes me even prouder than I already was to be an Avon Oriole," says Valentin. "This accomplishment is a true testament of what it means to teach in Avon. This is a place where all work together to make everyone feel valued and able to learn, and I couldn't have done this without the wonderful staff, students, and families who make Avon schools so great!"

The Pine Tree Elementary Multilingual Learner Teacher earned the distinction of being Avon's Teacher of the Year for her work during the 2022-23 school year and was acknowledged before 1,500 of her colleagues at the Back-to-School Celebration in July. Her selection — and her hard work in submitting an incredible portfolio to the Indiana Department of Education this summer — earned her the distinction of being recognized among the Top 25 Indiana Teachers of the Year.

The Indiana Department of Education will notify Valentin later this month if she is an Indiana Top 10 Teacher of the Year Finalist.
