Students Celebrate Summer Reading

by AHS Librarian Robyn Young

The Avon High School Library hosted a Summer Reading Celebration with a visit from the Frigid Frog Shaved Ice Truck. Sixty-two students and staff members participated in the reading challenge by reading books throughout the summer and submitting information about them to Mrs. Robyn Young, Avon High School Librarian. Participants won candy bars, free books, and a visit with the Shaved Ice Truck … just for reading!

The AHS Library provides activities like this by using proceeds from The Nook Coffee Shop. The Nook was created for just this purpose – as a fundraiser so that the Library could host programs for students.

The Shaved Ice Truck was just the first of many events this school year. Students can earn more prizes by reading the Rosie books, the top 25 books chosen in the State of Indiana by the Indiana Library Federation.

Keep reading, students and staff!
