Thank You for Voting Yes

Thank You for Voting Yes
thank you for voting yes

Hello, Avon families and community.

I am thrilled to tell you that Avon-Washington Township voters have once again rallied around our 11,000 students and 1,600 employees by voting YES for the renewal of our 2018 Operating Referendum.

That means that the funding that has been in place since 2018 will continue for the next eight years. We will be able to keep class sizes small and our students will continue to receive the individualized support they need. We will continue to recruit and retain excellent educators. Because of our community’s decision, students will have the same enriching extra-curricular opportunities and supports they’ve enjoyed for the last seven years.

On behalf of our staff and students, I want to say thank you. This vote of confidence from our community is a reminder that their hard work is recognized and valued. As we said throughout the referendum campaign: Strong community. Strong schools.

To the members of our community who supported this effort – thank you. Thank you for your support, your vote, your efforts to engage with neighbors and friends, to share information, and educate the community about our schools. Our students, staff, and families owe you a great debt of gratitude.

To the members of our community who voted no, I recognize that we share a common interest in doing what we each think is best for this place we call home. Regardless of how we voted – Avon is still A Valley of Neighbors. I assure you that Avon Schools will continue to model transparency, accountability, and wise stewardship of taxpayer dollars. We will continue to advocate that state legislators address school-funding challenges so Indiana public schools can provide the best possible education for our students without local taxpayers having to fill the gap. Until then, I encourage you to remain engaged, to subscribe to district communications so you can be informed, to come out and attend our meetings to stay engaged, attend games and performances, and to support our students and their families as we work together to continue growing the next generation into accountable, responsible, and engaged citizens.

I am very glad to share this good news with you. Thank you, once again, for your support of our schools. We don’t take that support lightly and I’m excited to see all the many ways our students and educators will thrive in the coming years thanks to our community’s support.

Sincerely,
