The Library Minute with Madelyn
In Avon Schools, our libraries are hubs of activity. They are centers of learning, imagination, and excitement. In each issue of Oriole Blast, we'll feature a select book review by an Avon student. In addition to enjoying the chance to hear from them, maybe they'll get you hooked on a book.
My name is Madelyn. I attend Hickory Elementary.
Operation Frog Effect by Sarah Scheerger is about four kids who had this assignment in class to tell some ways of how to help the Earth. One of them got an idea but there was a consequence for their actions that maybe they can fix. It was a real challenge for them to lie and go do that idea. I think that the purpose for all of that was they really wanted to show a way of helping the Earth.
I loved this story so much. That is why I chose to write about it. I liked that it had everybody's point of view. There were also some pictures, and it was so fun to read. The challenges in the story and finding out the winners of those challenges made it fun. I would definitely recommend this book to 3rd graders and older. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
If your child is inspired to check out this recommendation, they may get it from their school library, by visiting our friends at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library or pick up a copy online.
